    We’re bombarded with it every day.  Our inboxes are full of emails from stores and websites letting us know about whatever amazing and limited-time offer they have going on that day.  We turn on the TV, and watch commercial after commercial telling us about sale after sale.  There’s billboards, flyers, junk mail, even people spinning signs on roadsides to try to get us to come into their store.

    Technology is great.  The internet has given us access to a wealth of knowledge and services at our fingertips.  We all can hop online to shop, do our banking, pay bills, order food and do just about anything else under the sun.  So now, I ask you a simple question…how long has it been since you spoke to your sales rep?  Really spoke to them?  Not just a quick call to check an order status or find out how to do something on the website.  If I’m correct, and I usually am (if I do say so myself), it’s been a while.  And what’s wrong with that, you ask?

    Social media is still a relatively new business tool – sites like Facebook and Twitter didn’t really take off until 2006.  There are lots of people who blew it off as a fad, nothing more than a way for kids to keep in touch with each other, and assumed the sites would be down within a few years.  But social media is here to stay.  There are over a billion people on Facebook on any given day, sharing details of their lives, catching up with old friends, laughing at memes, and (and here’s the kicker) learning about new products and following their favorite brands.
